The Actress is a character created by Blackest Night. Like many of his characters, it follows a particular theme. The Actress' theme is that of stage acting, as well as the bearing of separate masks and indentities.

The Actress was created after Blackest Night had seen the movie Moulin Rouge. For this reaosn, The Actress' appearance is that of Nicole Kidman in the movie's lead role.

The Actress wears a simple red gown to cover herself as she gracefully strides on crimson heels. Upon her wrists hang golden bangles that clink and chime as she moves. Golden teardrop-shaped earrings dangle from her ears, helping to light her hair with an alluring glow.

Around her waist hangs a golden belt, beautiful and sleek. This belt moves in tandem with her enchanting movements, though it is what hangs upon the belt that makes The Actress so renowned. From this belt hang nine white porcelain masks, each with a different face or image upon them.

Personality: Though The Actress takes on many different roles, her natural state is one that is kind and inviting. A smile is usually present upon her face, her red hair alight with the joys of life. Her laughter is pleasant and warm, her manners impeccable. Though a lovely and pleasant woman, Acting and Theatre are the sole joys of her life and she pursues them with passion. This very same passion drives her to go to the extents she does in order to protect it.

Weapon(s): In her basic role, The Actress bears no weapon.

Powers: The Actress’ masks grant her various abilities. The powers given depend upon the mask in question. She is able to manually place a mask upon her face, or switch them immediately at any time using the little magic at her disposal. Through the little magic readily available to her, the Actress can place a mask upon herself at any time. Through the placement of strong magic within them, these masks are unbreakable, despite their nature as porcelain.

The Beast: This mask is modeled after the face of a wolf, complete with a snout and engravings resembling fur. It contains the essence of animalistic tendencies and a connection with nature. In this role, The Actress is granted powerful senses and the ability to create and control plant life.

The Crone: Bearing the visage of an elderly woman, this mask contains great magical ability. While wearing this, The Actress is bestowed with a vast knowledge of the occult ways. The Actress becomes skilled in Alchemy, Elemental Magic, Conuration, Arcane Magic, and Astronomy

The Jester: This mask, half-black and half-white, bears a wickedly grinning mouth and eyes turned up in mocking laughter. This mask holds the essence of trickery and a fractured mind. While wearing it, The Actress is capable of death defying acrobatic stunts as well as gaining an inhuman fluidity to her movements that allow her to bend and attack in surprising ways. During this form, her fingernails grow in length and strength, becoming similar to steel claws.

The Shaper: A mask with a polished mirror for a face, this mask holds the essence of reflection and illusion. When wearing it, The Actress is capable of creating illusions and false realities that trap the mind and ensnare the senses. While in this form, The Actress is capable of mimicking the physical talents of those near her in a form of photographic reflexes.

The Siren: This mask, bearing a woman’s face with closed eyes and an open mouth, is framed by a pair of engraved wings that decorate the sides. This mask contains the arts and essences of enchantment, music, and allure. While in this form, The Actress radiates beauty and charm, enthralling members of both sexes around her. Furthermore, she is blessed with the ability to manipulate sound to her will. In this form, The Actress calls forth a golden lyre with which she enjoys fulfilling her role as The Siren.

The Fury: This mask bears the visage of a furious woman. It contains the essence of betrayal, anger, and vengeance. While in this form, The Actress gains the ability to move about silently in an ivorysmoke, as well as generating and manipulating the smoke to her desires. This smoke is immune to being cast away and exists so long as the Actress wills it. Her voice takes on a guttural tone and her dress changes its hue to black. While utilizing this mask, The Fury is granted a long silver dagger.

The Spy: This mask bears only two eyes that are in the center of a horizontal black stripe. It contains the essence of secrecy, stealth, and forbidden knowledge. In this role, The Actress gains the ability to manipulate and control shadows, wherever they may be. She also inherits knowledge of forbidden secrets, simple words that allow a variety of effects to take place. Though not quite magic, these words and their effects are very versatile, usually pertaining to stealth and surprise.

The Deus Ex Machina: This mask, little more than a blank porcelain plate with a red sunburst design on the forehead, contains the essence of the Ancient Gods and long lost faith in the impossible. This mask, in tribute to the role of the Deus Ex Machina, grants The Actress the magic of probability manipulation. Though incapable of making anything certain or impossible, The Actress is quite able to make the nigh impossible a probable reality. Bullets aimed for her heart may miss, and the collapsing of a building may leave her entirely unscathed. In this form, The Actress wields a set of silver scales, a prop with which she pretends to judge others.
