Mitsukai

User Mitsukai's only character to survive a months worth of use, and perhaps his signature character. Being his oldest, Mitsukai was created in the year 2005.

He is perhaps KHI's most proficient and skilled martial artist, save dispute between himself and Morpheaus' Ukiah Oregon. His design and creation was heavily influenced by such figures as Bruce Lee, Jet Li, DragonBall Z's Kid Gohan, and concepts of the spirit put forward by Japanese and Chinese old medical and martial practices, such as those depicted in anime series such as Tenjou Tenge and Samurai Champloo.

Background

Mitsukai's history is initially shrouded in mystery, to himself and to others. He was discovered in the slums of Atheon City, a gothic metropolis on the planet of Earth, by a criminal lord known as Theo, who came to adopt him. The relationship between the two was mutual and passive. Mitsukai (named Vida at the time) grew to appreciate his foster parent, yet harbored no true love towards the man. Rather, Vida was enthralled in the overwhelming sense that he was of use to someone, which was a trait he would come to despise. The Character of Mitsukai is often overlooked when it comes to the great emotional conflicts he has experienced throughout his life, which are shallowly contrasted through actual combat.

Now, unbeknown to many, a necrotic spirit inhabited the body of Theo, like a parasite. This being was known as Zetsumi, who eventually grew stronger than Theo, effectively taking over his body. In a primitive state of mind, there was a moment when Zetsumi would have killed Vida, had not Theo's friend Lee intervened. Unaware of the situation, Lee couldn't allow Zetsumi to harm the child, but could not compete with Zetsumi's inhuman capabilites. Instead, the necromancer utilized Lee as a more befitting vessell, but whether it be that Lee's sub-concious thoughts influenced Zetsumi, or by sheer whim, the necromancer found more use in the boy alive, and took him under his wing as his apprentice. From this point onward he was renamed "Mitsukai", a name of oriental derivation, that loosely translates between the words of "angel" or "servant".

Mitsukai's innocent disposition proved problematic to his new sensei, who opted to crush such weaknesses through brutal conflict. Thus begun the boy's strict and arduous training sessions, the majority of which took place through actual battle. In all regards, the boy's close range combat abilities were rather mediocre in comparison to his master's, which made him rather useless on the battlefield. However, he rectified the situation through his precise aim and unnatural aptitude for long range weaponry. Though, chances were Zetsumi preferred the boy to keep to the sidelines whilst he ripped his foes limb from limb. The two had eventually come to leave Mitsukai's home of Earth, and ventured beyond, out into the vast expanse of the Omniverse, by means which Mitsukai did not fully comprehend at the time.

About two years or so had passed, and it seemed fate had them do battle with the Dreamer, the first among many Omniversal Gods whom Mitsukai would come to meet. The battlefield was desolate, and a malignant force loomed over their hearts, as other fighters were manipulated to turn against the God, in an attempt to crush him. Zetsumi, on the other hand, needed no dark influence to realise that Ukiah Oregon's power was something to crave, so both he and Mitsukai began their offensive. They were an unexpectedly powerful duo. Regardless, Ukiah was most subtly toying with them all, and in a great moment of desperation where the Dreamer would have put an end to Mitsukai's otherwise short story, something stirred within him. At the time, he had mistaken it for his subconscious self, but he would later come to learn it was something else entirely. He moved with incredible speed, fought with unrivaled stoicism, and hit with tower-toppling strength, but his skills were still no match for a Gods. He fled the battlefield, and in the process abandoned his master.

He no longer wished to be a tool for others.

An insatiable craving for knowledge and power overcame him. He cared not for the damage he would cause in the acquisition of such power, but the simple fact that he was acquiring it. Mitsukai ventured across the Omniverse learning from different teachers and different races, but still retained the basic ideals of his first master, the concepts of a street fighter in all respects. Martial styles on their own were too restricting, only a true warrior could apply all styles and aspects of physical combat when needed, surpassing all limitations. The Astral Plane also piqued his interests, as he sought to surpass the physical boundaries of his power, and thus he came to a greater appreciation of the spirit, and how their metaphysical influence reached out across the material plane. It was a combination of mental and physical strength, that which allowed him to manipulate the world around him. He had briefly touched upon it in his battle with Ukiah, and a small taste of the power he would come to wield, the primitive and uncontrolled stages of his signature technique, Dangan.

Several years later, and Mitsukai had amassed an army of hand-picked warriors from across the universes, including his top four students, an elite fighting force known as The Tumor. Nagori, the Incubus, and a Transmogrifier, who assumed the form of his leader at one point in time in a conflict with Valyon Lightstar, in order to fake his death. Akumu, the Succubus, and a Seductress, who specialised in the arts of illusion and proved the demise of many men across the Omniverse. Tetsuya, the Vampire, and weakest of the four, but most prominent in the art of weaponship, espcially with the katana, and capable of holding off even Mitsukai in martial combat. Followed lastly by Espal, the blind one, a silent Assassin and Mitsukai's most loyal servant. He had trained Espal in the Shadow Arts, which his master did not prefer to use, hence the reason he used an assassin in the first place. These four and himself would lead the armies from planet to planet, until the entire Omniverse was eventually Mitsukai's. In all honesty, Mitsukai was not sure why he wanted to do this, but felt it the most appropriate method of measuring his capabilities. However, his plans were cut abruptly short with a confrontation with his old master Zetsumi. Then Death interrupted.

Awakening, the young martial artist found himself in the presence of Death, the God itself. For Mitsukai, meeting the actual God was quite bewildering, but it was through brief discussion and argument that Mitsukai eventually came to realise that he was not dead, but needed by Death all the same. And finally pieces to Mitsukai's heritage could be traced. Death had no idea where he had come from, but she did know what Mitsukai really was; a human container for a notorious and dangerously powerful Necrophim known as Jinsei, for which Zetsumi was another. It was long foretold that these creatures would one day usurp Death's throne. The act was on Death's part a last ditch effort to contain the spirit, who threatened to destroy Death and overthrow her. However, through Jinsei's own workings he had managed to escape her grasp and transport his container to a vastly unexplored and remote region of the Omniverse, otherwise known as Earth. He had then forced himself into a spiritual slumber of sorts, that masked his presence from the Gods, but was recently re-awakened when Mitsukai had fought with Ukiah, the signal growing stronger throughout the course of time.

Once more Death had him within her grasp, but this time she intended to maintain a powerful hold over him, and instead of simply destroying Jinsei, she would utilize him as her personal servant, or Death Angel. Mitsukai would suffer the torment, however, as he was the container, the one preventing Jinsei from wreaking havoc and threatening the equilibrium of the entire Omniverse. The Gods, who Mitsukai would come to loathe, for their sheer greed and inconsiderate nature. They held such influence over things that he could not bear it, he secretly yearned to break free and destroy them all. However, through his service to Death his emotions, overtime, were strangely supressed, such as his early memories, the only things Mitsukai could call his own. Soon he became naught but the Rhythm of Apathy, a tool without emotion that had given up on all things, and because of this must feel nothing, to be spared the pain. Only through another encounter did he slowly come to his senses. This time it was with Valyon Lightstar and the greatly feared Makyu Eramiss, another enemy of Death. But it was through this conflict that Mitsukai once more met with Zetsumi, only this time they fought together, and with newfound force and energy. Mitsukai's true emotions and desires had awoken once more, but in doing so, so had Jinsei. The conflict had ended short, as they always did, and Mitsukai was cast aside as Jinsei became re-acquainted with his powers.

In all essence, they had never been Mitsukai's to begin with. He had never felt... so powerless, so helpless and weak. Together Jinsei and Zetsumi, both Necrophim, would storm Death's reside and crush her, to realise a power that had been rightfully theirs for centuries and beyond. However, Zetsumi eventually betrayed Jinsei, who he did not care for, and absorbed his powers instead. Mitsukai on the other hand, had grown incredibly tired of the fact that he had not escaped his fate as a tool. His supressed emotions were finally evoked for the first time in years, and the unique anomaly that he was, somehow allowed these emotions to manifest and plunge the Omniversal equilibrium into chaos. It was he who the Gods should of feared, not Jinsei, for it was he who would bring imbalance and eventually destroy all that ever was, and this made Mitsukai extremely happy. He no longer cared for the well being of others, the innocence he had grown with had held him back, and his potential. He would know revenge. How they had all used him. The Devoid encompassed such an unnatural desire to end, but could not do so. In shifting the equilibrium of the Omniverse, the very concept of things had been distorted. This newfound power was far more effective than his old, but it would challenge him, as it consumed his being.

Now in possession of even more power, Zetsumi had become a force to be reckoned with. He and Mitsukai fought quite incredibly, but the fading remains of Mitsukai's former self restricted the Devoid, to a certain degree. Even if Zetsumi had used him, like all the others, Mitsukai did not want him to die. It was only through the combined reasoning of both Zetsumi and the memory of Jinsei that Mitsukai eventually came to grasps with reality, destroying the memory out of a refined hatred, once again assuming the power as his own. But it wasn't in the way that you think. Power was always there for those willing to seek it. He had come to understand that, as well as realise that his existence was what he made of it, something that not even the God's could control. And so together a handful of the Omniverse's greatest warriors, along with Mitsukai and Zetsumi, repressed the Devoid and restored balance once more, for the sake all.

Once again they parted ways, and so Mitsukai retreated into solitude, to piece his powers back together, along with his past. But his heritage would deal the final blow to his tragic existence, and his story would soon come to an end.
